CHIGOZIE ODEDIRAN BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Chigozie Odediran (“Goz”) is a foreign attorney. Her practice focuses on intellectual property. Goz has additional experience advising on copyright prosecution. She has also worked on international and corporate intellectual property matters with the Nigeria Government. Goz graduated from the University of Lagos in 2003 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2004. Prior to joining Coleman Stevenson & Montel, LLP, Goz was an attorney at the Nigerian Copyright Commission and practiced extensively in copyright law. While at the Commission, Goz dealt extensively with copyright infringement and was directly involved with the prosecution of literary and film infringement. She also has experience in legislative drafting for the Commission. Goz has undergone copyright investigative training with the United States Patent Office (USPTO), United States Department of Justice (USDOJ) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Intellectual Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI). She is also a recipient of a recognition and excellence award from the Nigerian Copyright Commission.
She holds an LLM in International Business and Economic Law and a certificate in World Trade Organization Studies from the Georgetown University Law Center. While a graduate student at Georgetown, she was directly involved with the Investment Climate Department of the World Bank Group on the investment across borders project. She also interned at the research division of the Federal Judicial Commission Washington D.C. As a graduate student at Georgetown, she was an LLM delegate to the Student Bar Association and was a star athlete at the mini Olympics of the foreign law students association in Georgetown, winning four medals.
